New Knees Wheeee
Well, I now have two new knees - actually the same old ones all re-polished with titanium glue-on bearing surfaces. A very long op ( with everything lasting fro 9AM until about 3:30 PM) but well worth it. I recommend it to all of you - especially if you are into maschochism.
They say I will be up and walking and out of the rehab hospital in about ten days - I sure hope so. Right now I still have considerable trouble going from horizontal to vertical but can use a walker pretty well for at least ten steps. When they say physical therapy here they really mean it - pretty intense starting at - would you believe - 4AM and lasting all day.
This is a really new experience for me and I'll keep you posted if anyone's interested.

I'm glad you made it through the surgery and are on track for a good recovery. Keep posting about the experience, I'm betting I'll have to go through it some day.
I am going home tomorrow - seventeen days after the surgery. My knees work well, but as expected, the muscles surrounding them still still have a long ways to go. I can't, for example, touch my toes or tie my shoes and getting up from sitting is a real challenge. I can walk without much pain - but not very far. I expect I will be using a walker or cane for some weeks. There have been a few times when I regretted all this, but then I try to remember how it really was and how it will be - I'm excited at the prospects.
Actually, I got home a day early - am walking around - mostly with a cane - and can even tie my own shoes.
Home physical therapy starts tomorrow - more pain, I expect
Dear Dick,
You've possibly been home for about a week as I pen this missive. I am glad you are well, and pray that you gain new stability with the help of your new knees. My friends and neighbors in our mobile home park cannot believe my "progress"as I power walk around the perimeter of the park. I am now not only completely healed, but am attempting through exercise to "grow younger".
Take care. I miss your presence in the comment sections of my blogs, and do hope you will be able to visit soon. I've even been attempting to visit the Socrates Cafe more often, although it seems to take longer for me to "make the rounds" the more people I "meet" on Xanga.
My prayers are with you and your wife.
