    Happiness is a repaired computer.
My long personal computing career has always been limited to Apples - my first was an Apple-II purchased in Feb. 1982 - I was by no means the "first on the block" but they were just becoming popular. That was followed by an Apple IIe and an Apple IIGS. I still have a software IIGS simulation program that lets you run apple-2 stuff on a Mac (not the new ones with the intel chip, however) I finally threw out boxes and boxes of 7.25" floppies a few years ago - some with the first "Basic" programs I ever wrote. I still have boxes and boxes of 400K & 800K 3.5" floppies if anyone wants them
I stuck with Apple IIs for about ten years, waiting until 1993 to get my first Mac - a color classic. A couple of years later I bought my last Desktop - A powerMac 7500 which I tinkered with and added to until I got my first laptop - a PowerBook G3 "Lombard" in 1999. It still works very well, thank you, even though the battery is shot.
Three years later I purchased a titanium PowerBook G4 which also is still running despite a broken hinge. That's the one I've been using since my latest - a MacBook Pro 17 - lost its internal HD.
This is the first catastrophic failure I've had that I couldn't fix myself - I'd actually replaced the HD in the Lombard - just took careful tinkering and tiny fingers - but fortunately there is an Apple re-seller - Guru in town who was able to remove the HD, strip out and save most of the data, and replace it with a faster, bigger one - all in less than 48 hours.
Unfortunately I had not backed up finances, photos, correspondence, etc since last June, so I was much relieved when he was able to retrieve most of the data. I'll back up more often in the future - I keep telling myself.

  • Always ... always ... always create backups.  Automated backup s/w is abailable everywhere, but if you don't want to spring for that, it's so simple to drag and drop a folder that has all your important stuff.  USB harddrives and thumb drives are so cheap these days, and have such huge capacities, that there really isn't any excuse not to do a regular backup.  Evern once a month is better than no back up at all.

  • Sigh, I know, I know, but Macs are so dependable that I tend to get lax.

  • I learned early on to back up everything. Within a year of getting my first PC, it became so saturated with malicious ads and pop-ups that it was useless. Had to wipe the whole dang thing clean and start over.

I learned not only to back up, but to use firewalls and other means of security--including Firefox.

    Happy Holidays!

  • Macs don't get much malware and they are immune to spyware - but it's still important to use a good firewall program. I'm surprised at how often I get pinged. Mr firewall lets me ping them back - as well as do other nasties to intruders - but I don't bother with retaliation, except to permanently ban offenders..

I've heard lots of good things about Macs. But my first computer was Windows. Since I installed Mozilla Firefox (years ago) I've had zero problems with intruders.

  • When a resolution includes the expression "in the future", it is usually a wrong approach...

  • Yes, my wife and I have the same problem. At the last crash of our PC, we set up procedure to select files that need to be backed up and a sharp schedule to back up them. We did never follow that schedule not even once!

  • It's much much more economical, and easier on the nerves, if you believe ahead and pack a bag to
consider to the theme parks with you. These are items everybody should include in their pack.

It appears to be the case that nametags are ordered at the final
minute, it's just a fact in the identification business.

As it is with all internet buys there is a level of believe in that should be
given. Even with the convenience the web offers
you can't contact and see initial hand the item that you're
ordering. At this stage you'll need to rely on good consumer services and understandable clarification of the
    goods.

Link Developing - Search engines like it when you are connected with other sites.
That doesn't mean if you put tons of links on your site to other websites that it will help you.
The genuine issue is getting other websites that are connected to you.

This is also achieved using on-line PR and web listing submissions.

Desert Island: Group people in teams of five or 6 and inform them they will
be marooned on a desert island. Give them 30 seconds to list all the
things they believe they should consider and each individual has to lead at minimum 3 products.

At the finish of 30 seconds, inform the teams they can only take three issues.
Have the individual who suggested each merchandise on the
checklist inform why they suggested it and defend why their merchandise ought to be one of
the selected 3. This helps the team learn about how each of
them thinks, get to know every other's values, and how they resolve problems.

First, I believe this church is extraordinary. I have attended
a lot of church buildings, and I've never been to one that pulled off an attractional worship services like
they did. Seriously, they did an amazing occupation.

Later, we took a Shilla Hotel bus to the Itaewon Shopping District,
exactly where they would take American cash. We ate at a 'Subway' restaurant,
just like back again home. At other places on that road you could discover McDonald's, KFC,
Burger King and OutBack Steak Home. We treated ourselves to a
Baskin Robbins Ice Cream treat while sitting down in front of a shop and viewing people and traffic.
While I was in the Ice Cream shop, Doyle was approached by
a Jehovah Witness. That truly shocked us.

I'm sure Invoice and I will be staying at the Edelweiss once
more, because the facility hosts a great deal of conferences.
The next time we remain there, I will make a point of reserving
a couple of tours. General, I'm left with a good impact, even though I do think there's definitely some
    space for improvement.
